:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Eye Doc report- snip from a E to my Brother Paul: Date:Mon, Oct 27, 2003, 6:44pm ...Just got back from Eye Doc and sat down... Eye doc stuff is that he believes I am having a negative reaction to the day time eye drops. He says the "infection" part of this problem is done with. The current problem is Inflammation. When the assistant did the eye exam of reading the eye chart with one eye covered. The right eye was really really bad worst it has ever been. I couldn't read =at all= the first 3 lines with my glasses that I could just weeks before. Not good. He said because of that "thang" the scar tissue deal we talked about at lunch yesterday. The inflammation pulls on the cornea and distorts the vision more so. That is why my right eye vision was so much worse. Results of todays exam are these: New eye drops that he gave me a sample bottle of and a script if needed (he doesn't think I will need it and that it is $100 a bottle so I am aware of it and don't faint at the pharmacy lol) This has no antibiotics in it it is a steroid & a soothing type of deal that should feel good to my pissy eyeballs. Continue with night time salve. See him in one week plus so he can keep a handle on how my body is or isn't responding. Need to close my eyes and rest them now. Will read this and the 3 other E's later tonight. Embrasso Sibling of my soul, Moi eweeo & eye goo..... :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Eyeball update 11/05/2003 I had another eye doctor appointment today. All is well go back in a month. Continue with night time salve and 3x a day eyedrops script of "Lotemax" by Baush & Lomb active ingredient is "Loteprednol Etabonate" which is a steroid so he told me and "Thera Tears" Liquid Gel (Lubricant Eye Gel) in drop form. At that time the doc will reduce and adjust dosage may take me off of some of it but that will be decided in one months time. The "plaque" = scar tissue on the right eyeball is the reason this has been so hard to cure. Plus the fact that my eyeballs were having a negative reaction to antibiotic eye drops to cure the pink eye. This ingredient "tobramycin" is in both the first day time drops "TobraDex" and the night time salve same name of "TobraDex" both made by Alcon ®. He said my eyes just didn't like it when the infection was done. Said the eyes both look quiet and calmer. Regarding the operation down the road like 10 years plus. He does the surgery and told me today that many of his operations are for this type of thing. More than 50% are 2nd operations that the first surgeon did not do correctly. When you remove the scar tissue also called plaque you must put in it's place a graph, a plug of sorts. Or it will grow right back. When it does it will grow back larger. Yes diabetes has a effect on eyes. So does blood pressure. I am controlling both of these with medication. The largest contributor to this current eye sitch is the scar tissue on the right eye. Having diabetes & high blood pressure just compounds the problems more so. Even though I am controlling those factors with medication it has to do with the internal pressures and how it effects the optic nerve. He is a great doctor. Really knows his stuff and a added plus is he is with in the referring click of my eye glass guy and is the man who told me to see G-Spot who is excellent. G-Spot is the diabetes Doc. LOL Me and my Bro's nicks for Docs. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The list of nicks we have for docs of mine is long @ hysterical. My Brother Paul named Doctor Golanty G-Spot. Kinda rolled off his tongue & of course it stuck. I howled with laughter at the nick when we were yap'n on our cells taking care of bizz together. See,(pun intended) not only are my brother & I very close he is my life & health insurance agent. Also the executor of my will & holds my medical durable power of attorney as I hold the same for him. This scar tissue is the result of exposure to the sun reflecting off the water. All the years living working playing by the ocean that I love took it's toll. The eye is protecting it's self by growing a "shade" over it's self with the scar tissue. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: A Friend Wrote: Glad to hear that you are doing better. Does all this affect your vision right now? And, oh..... is Dr. G-Spot a woman? :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Conked out early last night. Woke up early after a bizarre dream. Well when I put in the salve it sure does effect my vision. I can't see chit! LOL Yes this eye infection & the scar tissue has and continues to effect my vision this is expected so "Beammer" tells me. Nick for eye doc Dr. Brenner. I gave him that nick for a couple of reasons. 1.) He uses =INTENSE= light to examine the eye also takes pics that is like eye torture. I kid him about being a Chinese Torturer in a past life (yes even though I don't believe in reincarnation before you all go awn about that lol) 2.) He is a happy guy always bright and cheerful. Like a beam of light. 3.) He is a yuppy type. He may even drive a beammer I dunno? Because the internal pressures meaning fluid pressures are in flux state the vision is in the same changing state. How these fluid pressures effect the surface of right eye and the scar tissue is the main source of vision variables. Because the scar tissue is a "fixed" thing on the eye when the fluid pressures change daily/hourly so does the vision. Fluid pressures change do to the diabetes as in amount of sugar in the blood, also blood pressure levels and the medication working on controlling these pressures. G-Spot = Doctor Golanty is male. In his late 50's early 60's I would guess. He maybe older. He is and has been for 20+ years on the International Board of Doctors for Diabetes. There is a name for this organization that escapes me at the moment. He is a teacher at heart & I have always been a willing student. We got off to a positive connection right from the gate. He makes the time to really talk with you find out what makes you tick and how interested you are in working towards a more healthy you. If you show him you are of that mind set he gets jazzed and will teach you anything you want to know. I sincerely like the guy as a person. He is gone allot though. He has to travel often to various locations Nationally and Internationally to attend the meetings for the international board of Doctors for Diabetes. Busy guy yet when you meet with him it is like time stands still he doesn't make you feel like he is in a hurry or pressed for time. His assistant is a woman who is good, from africa. She has that strange british accent you recognise as from the city turf of Africa. I'm comfortable with her. Of course I like G-Spot more. Yes I even told Golanty his nick he LOVED it! LOL :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I was asked the question: Q: Do I have to do injections of insulin? A: Yup once a day of one type of insulin which is Lantus insulin long acting and 14 cc of Novolog insulin short acting which I use a "Pen Needle" every time I eat or drink something with caloric substance. Water, tea, coffee, & diet drinks I don't though. G-Spot tells me that most diabetics =should= be on the needle. That pills do not do the job and are not recommended by the Diabetes Association. That many doctors prescribe the pills because the patients don't want to or will not deal with the needles. Doesn't bother me at all. I'm on auto pilot now. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Links :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Welcome to LANTUS.com ...
