Making Transparent or
Solid Color Images
B4 Entering ImageMagick

This is a MOCK UP of the entry page of ImageMagick. It is intended for educational purposes only. The script has been removed so that none of the actions function.

For a working ImageMagick to try your hand at with this feature:

At the bottom of this page you will see 3 text areas to input information.

Size Which is set by default to 320x240. You can change this to what ever you wish.

On the drop down list under the format tab which is set to Implicit by default, select the type of image you wish to create.

In this example we are making a transparent image in XC format. So select "xc" from the drop down list.

In the next text area titled:"Meta"

with a drop down titled:"Interface"

In that text area is where you type in your color name.

Like this:
transparent
or you can type in a color name like:
silver
black

At this time you can use only color names. You cannot use color codes like #000000. You would need to type in the color name of "black" instead.

I have included a few links to color charts at the bottom of this page to help you with this.

What about the drop down box titled: "Interface"?

I haven't experimented much with it. From what I have seen, it doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference. That said, just leave set as is. You can explore that later.

Scroll up the page to:
View and click it to continue.

This will put you inside of imagemagick with the transparent image or other color of image you told it to create for you. The image format or the file extension will be .mpc When you are outputting remember to change it to .gif (always select .gif for transparent images jpg does not support transparencies) or .jpg before the second & final output.

Let's review:

Step 1:
Change the geometry size if you so desire to ? from the default of 320x240

Step 2:
Select "xc" from the drop down box to the right.

Step 3:
Type in a color name in the "Meta" text area.

Step 4:
Scroll up the page to:
View and click it to continue

Step 5:
Output: your image will be in .mpc format. remember to change it to .gif or .jpg before outputting it the second time.
